  • Gottfriedson v. His Majesty the king in Right of Canada (Court file No. T1542-12) https://bandreparations.ca/

    The Band Reparations Class Action is a collective lawsuit against the Government of Canada, initiated by the Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc and shíshálh Nation, with support from the Grand Council of the Crees (Eeyou Istchee). It addresses communal damages, such as the loss of language and culture, suffered by Indigenous communities due to Indian Residential Schools. The lawsuit seeks to hold the Canadian government accountable for these collective impacts.

  • The lawsuit was settled March 9th, 2023 and of the 325 Bands who were part of the suit, only 1% have accessed the kick-start funds for their communities.

  • Akwekon is an Indigenous entity committed to ethically and responsibly supporting First Nations. We charge a low, fixed, non-variable fee for our services, payable only after funds are allocated and released to your First Nation, with no upfront or variable costs.

    At Akwekon, we deeply understand the needs of First Nations communities and are committed to maximizing the funds received by your Band. Our goal is to ensure that the Band receives as much of the settlement as possible while benefiting from our expert guidance and dedicated care.
